Professor for Embedded Software at RWTH Aachen University
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Kowalewski is full professor for embedded software at RWTH Aachen University. He received a Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from Karlsruhe University, Germany, and a Dr.-Ing. and a habilitation degree in control and safety engineerig both from Dortmund University, Germany. From 2000-2003 he was researcher and group manager in the Corporate Research and Advanced Engineering division of Robert Bosch GmbH, Frankfurt, Germany, working in the area of automotive software engineering. Prof. Kowalewski was chairman of the technical committee “Cyber Physical Systems” of the German Society on Measurement and Automation (VDI/VDE-GMA) and head of the steering board of the technical committee “Automotive Software Engineering”, German Society for Computer Science (GI) until last year. His research interests are in software and systems engineering for embedded and cyber-physical systems, in particular formal methods for program analysis and synthesis, design and validation of safe and reliable systems, and model-based control software design. For his teaching in embedded software, he received the Informatics Europe Curriculum Award 2012.
