UC Davis Graduate School of Management Partnership Opportunity
UC Davis recently added an international option to the IMP program (Integrated Management Project). The Dean of the School identified a partnership with the Ingolstadt School of Management for the upcoming fall quarter. We are seeking a company to engage on a project that has a presence in the surrounding area for a strategic project that would involve our UC Davis students partnering with Ingolstadt students to form a research team. The German students will be coming to the US over the ten-week quarter while tackling a strategic business challenge, and then the team will go back to Germany to complete the project work. We are searching for a company with a presence in Northern California as well as in Germany (with proximity to Ingolstadt) who would be interested in engaging a team of MBA students on a strategic initiative. To see the type of projects we have engaged in the recent past, check our website (high-level descriptions; all projects are NDA protected). We have a current team at work on a project with Logitech in Lausanne, Switzerland and Newark, CA in partnership with ZHAW School of Management & Law in Winterthur, SUI, so we are slowly gaining experience in this international endeavor.

Osborne Clark
After the UK Parliament failed to approve the draft EU-UK Withdrawal Deal, the UK and the EU agreed to extend the "article 50" notice period to 31 October 2019. This avoided the imminent threat of a no-deal Brexit, but a no-deal Brexit remains a possibility at this stage. In order to avoid the negative tax consequences in Germany due to a no-deal Brexit, the German Government enacted the Brexit Tax Accompanying Act at the beginning of this year. This Act supplements provisions of the German Income Tax Act and the German Corporation Tax Act in order to avoid (or at least mitigate) the negative tax effects due to a no-deal Brexit. Julia Martensen, Head of Global HR Strategy & Innovation at DB Schenker: "VR trainings suggest a significant reduction in training time, but they will also increase safety inside our warehouses. Not only can we use it to simulate dangerous situations, such as crossing pedestrians, but also map the exact warehouse layout to prevent accidents involving storage and racking systems".
