Salle Pianos, 1632 Market Street, San Francisco, CA
LIEDER ALIVE is deeply honored to present the renowned countertenor Brian Asawa, in collaboration with pianist Kevin Korth at the Gala Opening Celebration of the 2014/15 Liederabend Series on September 7th, performing a program entitled "Im Abendrot: Songs of Schubert and Strauss". Other of Schubert's masterpieces on this Gala program include Litanei, Rastlose Liebe and Nacht und Träume amongst others. Schubert's Im Abendrot may be one of the more famous "sunset songs", but he was by no means the only composer to see in the twilight a reminder of the fragility of all beauty and of our own mortality. Richard Strauss - whose Im Abendrot closes the program - based his version on a text of the same name by Joseph von Eichendorff. Here the metaphorical nature of the dying sun is unequivocal. Seating is limited - advance ticket purchase is highly recommended! Premium reserved seating is available in advance for $75; general admission is $35 in advance and $40 at the door. For more information and tickets purchasing please click here! Please come and join a magnificent Gala Opening Celebration for 2014/15 series.
