Happy 2014! May the New Year bring us more wonderful
opportunities to work and to succeed together.
We would like to remind you of two
not-to-be-missed events in January. The
18th Annual Berlin
& Beyond Film Festival will take place January 15th - 21th,
primarily at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. Courage in
Motion is this year's theme, with cinematic stories of
overcoming life's obstacles, moving bravely, embracing hope,
connecting minds, finding solutions and bonding through common
humanity. After enjoying a full week of German culture, make sure to
come to the annual
GABA Gala and network with the German
elite of Silicon Valley. The
GABA Gala
will be held on January 31st at the InterContinental San Francisco. Tickets are going really fast, save your seat while you still can.
Sincerely,
Caroline Raynaud, Executive Director

18. Berlin &
Beyond Film Festival
January 15 - 19, 2014
at
Castro Theatre
January
20
- 21, 2014
at Goethe-Institut
Since 1996, Berlin & Beyond has been a gateway for the American public to experience the universal spirit and vision of filmmakers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Courage in Motion is this year's theme, with cinematic stories of overcoming life?s obstacles, moving bravely, embracing hope, connecting minds, finding solutions and bonding through common humanity. The velvet curtains open with Germany's official entry to the 2014 Academy Awards, the riveting time-spanning espionage drama "Two Lives" by Georg Maas. Contemporary cinema auteurs Thomas Arslan ("Gold"), Detlev Buck ("Measuring the World" 3D) and Xavier Koller ("The Black Brothers") take us on 19th-century journeys to unexpected discoveries. Brave stories of survival resonate in Lars-Gunnar Lotz's "Shifting the Blame" and Oscar®-nominated director Marc Rothemund's "The Girl with Nine Wigs". We examine our fragile world with the documentaries "Miles & War" by Anne Thoma of rare insights into war mediation, and "More than Honey" by Oscar®-nominated director Markus Imhoof where human existence is questionable without bees. For the festival schedule please visit the
website and
Facebook Page.
