Sonnenschein Secured Settlement Agreement for Lehman Brothers Bankhaus AG
Attorneys from Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP have secured a multi-billion dollar settlement in the bankruptcy case of Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. Sonnenschein was retained to represent Lehman Brothers Bankhaus AG, the German affiliate of LBHI, in connection with the LBHI bankruptcy and the liquidation of Bankhaus' US assets. LBHI will pay Bankhaus nearly $1.4 billion in cash and agree to allow substantial claims by Bankhaus in the U.S. bankruptcy cases.

Reporting of Uncertain Tax Positions
The Internal Revenue Service is asking businesses to report "uncertain tax positions" if they are a business taxpayer with total assets in excess of $10 million or have uncertain tax positions involving US federal income tax. For this group, the new schedule will require extensive information. Penalties and sanctions are expected for those taxpayers that fail to make adequate disclosure of uncertain tax positions. German Movies: White Ribbon and North Face
The setting of The White Ribbon is a village in Protestant northern Germany from 1913 to 1914, on the eve of World War I, and won three awards at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, including the prestigious Palme d'Or. North Face, is a suspenseful adventure film about a competition to climb the most dangerous rock face in the Alps set in 1936, and won the German Film Academy Award 2009. Both films are shown at Landmark Theatres in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Palo Alto.
