The German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) is proud to announce the inauguration of its new solar roof on October 4, 2007 by German Federal Minister of Transport, Buildings and Urban affairs, Wolfgang Tiefensee.
The photo voltaic system is a donation from a company consortium lead by Phoenix Solar. Besides the GISSV additional projects partners are Xantrex (CA) as sponsor of the inverters for the system and Blue Oak Energy (CA) as provider of consultant services in all administrative processes.
The grid connected photovoltaic system will generate roughly 28.000 kWh per year, which corresponds to about 34% of the school's annual electricity demand. Since electricity prices from conventional energy sources are expected to rise continuously, the saving effect will increase with each year of operation. The PV system on the roof of the GISSV will avoid annually the emission of about 17 tons of carbon dioxide. Assuming a very conservative minimum system lifetime of 25 years the total of avoided carbon dioxide emissions will sum up to about 420 tons.

The German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) invites you to join us for a Peruvian Benefit Concert on Friday, October 12, 2007, 7pm at the Auditorium

The school is located in one of the poorest areas within the province of Lima, with a student population of almost 900. Among the many things the school community lacks are additional classrooms and equipment which is needed in order to provide a qualified education for all students.
Ticket price is $50 for families, or $20 for individuals (Peruvian food included). Tickets can be ordered at the GISSV office
