Patron Corporate Member MaCS,
Marketing-Communications-Services is hosting the
following webinar:
How to Persuade European Editors to Write
About Your Company
Date: July 19, 2006
Time: 9.00 am to 10.00 pm PDT
Registration at: http://www.macs-us.com/news/webinar/pr/index.html
When it comes to PR outside the United States,
how you communicate your message to analysts and
editors, who in turn will communicate it to the
market at large, is critical. If you don't fully
understand how PR in their respective countries
work, they aren't likely to write about your
company, or even worse, their message may not be
what you intend to communicate to your
audiences. To surmount that challenge, you have
to communicate the message using the right
cultural approach, the appropriate language, all
the while adhering to local communication standards.

When it comes to translations, "You cannot beat
the power of the human brain for many years to
come," says Dagmar Dolatschko, the president and
founder of
Peritus Precision Translations, Inc. in a
recent interview by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Dolatschko's team arranged for a linguist to
play an Iraqi speaker at the demonstration of an
SRI-developed device that can recognize words
and understand simple foreign phrases. While the
new technology will certainly come in handy
during simple exchanges in places like urban
hospitals and military settings where no
interpreters are available, it remains to be
seen when a computer will be able to catch the
different meanings of the English word "trunk".

Francisco Chronicle on Monday, May 29, 2006,
