Europe and the US between NSA, TTIP and Ukraine: Common policy or drifting apart?
Thursday, Jun 19, 2014 06:00 PM - 08:30 PM
Bay Area Council Economic Institute, 353 Sacramento St, 10th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94111

Transatlantic relations are undergoing considerable strain: the NSA has caused considerable damage of the relationship, especially in Germany. Reflections are out that Europe would need to engage into a bold cyber initiative ("Euro-cloud") to counter the US dominance of that technology. In the meantime, the TTIP agreement constitutes and effort to bring the "West" together and to institutionalize trade relations in a new way, so as to guarantee the supremacy over the international regulatory agenda; and the events in Ukraine have seen a clear commitment to have a common position with respect to Russia. Don't miss this unique opportunity to discuss foreign relations with a European leader.
