The evening will also feature German music. Cathy Lara will reach into her collection of German pop and electronic music (1960 to present) and play a variety of songs ranging from German oldies and Schlager music to Neue Deutsche Welle and music from Germany today. Introducing Yiman Liu, Our New GABA Project Manager
We want to welcome Yiman to our GABA team. Being perfectly fluent in German, English and Chinese, she is able to interact with clients and partners with different backgrounds. Yiman holds master degrees in Economics and Sociology as well as a bachelor in Chinese Studies. Yiman has volunteered for GABA in the past before putting her project and account management skills to work in the translation industry. She will be the new GABA Membership contact, stepping in for Cornelia. Welcome back.

GISSV Saturday School - New Semester starts
You always wanted to learn German? The new semester at GISSV Saturday School starts on Saturday, September 11 with classes for all age levels starting at age 3, hours are from 9am to 11:30am. German Book Fair at GISSV in Mountain View - Open to the Public
Just in time for the world's largest book fair in Frankfurt a.M. the German International School of Silicon Valley will host its own German Book Fair from September 23 to 25. Over 200 German children's and youth books will be on display and available for orders. The Book Fair will take place at the GISSV Auditorium on 310 Easy Street in Mountain View. Opening hours are: Sep 23 - 8am to 5pm; Sep 24 - 8am to 5pm; Sep 25 - 8:30am to 12:30pm.

Saturday School Teacher (German)
The German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) is an accredited private school with a bilingual (German-English) educational program serving children of all nationalities. For its Saturday School program the German International School of Silicon Valley is looking for applicants with language proficiency at native speaker level who have training and experience teaching the German language to children/youth in the age range from 6 to 8 years (all teaching levels refer to the standards given by the European Framework of Languages (A1.1. - C1). These are paid part-time positions that require 2.5 hours of classroom instruction on 30 Saturdays per year as well as participation in teachers meetings and continuing education workshops. German Opening Movie at the new Children's Film Festival

The San Francisco Film Society kicks off its Fall Season for 2010 with the NY/SF International Children's Film Festival, a three-day celebration of diverse, enlightening, inspiring and entertaining films for kids and teens ages 3-18 and their families. Programs include short, feature, animated and documentary films from around the world with filmmaker guests in attendance. The opening movie will be Little White Lies (Perlmutterfarbe) by Marcus H. Rosenmüller (Germany 2009).
