    Join GABA-CA and Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP, as Dick Thornburgh, former U.S. attorney general and governor of Pennsylvania will discuss lessons learned from his experience on the independent review panel that examined the reporting and broadcast of the 60 Minutes Wednesday program regarding President George W. Bush's Texas Air National Guard service, as well as his experience as the federal bankruptcy court-appointed examiner in the WorldCom bankruptcy proceedings. A distinguished panel comprised of corporate leaders will join Mr. Thornburgh for a discussion on current trends in corporate governance. They will explore the complex and changing relationships between business corporations, their various stakeholders and the markets in which they operate, as well as the evolving roles of shareholders, directors, and executives. They will discuss both the economic and ethical considerations surrounding effective corporate governance, including the social, political, legal and moral aspects of how businesses are governed, as well as business performance and the operation of financial markets. The panel will talk about how corporations can prepare themselves for the new regulatory environment and increased scrutiny resulting from the corporate scandals of the past few years.     As one of the original co-founders, Dagmar Dolatschko was elected Chairwoman of the Board for the German American Business Association, www.gaba-ca.org. Prior to GABA, she served on the board of the German American Chamber of Commerce, West; co-founded the German American Council for Business, Boston in 1996 and served as their president for three years; she served as president of the Arizona Chapter of the German American Chamber of Commerce from 1993-1995. Besides her involvement in German American non-profit organizations, she has also been active in other boards such as Women in International Trade, and the Global Business Alliance, Boston. Dagmar Dolatschko is the owner and founder of Peritus Precision Translations, Inc.     Last week's merger Monday proved to be a bonanza for Premium Corporate Member Cooley Godward LLP. Cooley Godward teams led by Keith Flaum are representing Siebel Systems Inc. in its sale to Oracle Corp. and eBay Inc. in its purchase of Skype Technologies SA. Cooley began working with Siebel in its early days and took the company public in the mid-'90s. The law firm has enjoyed a fairly steady diet of Siebel M&A deals. Cooley also goes back a significant way with eBay. Last year the firm advised the company on its purchase of Mobile.de AG and in 1999 worked with eBay in its purchase of German online auction house Alando.de AG.

    The European networking community, EuroCircle, has recently launched its new website (www.eurocircle.com), and is now both an offline and an online community. Basic Corporate Member Splenium Marketing Communications (www.spleniummarketing.com) was chosen among 100+ international agencies to re-design EuroCircle's branding and the colossal 300+ page website. The design of this project was awarded the prestigious American Graphic Design Award and EuroCircle was very excited with the work delivered (www.eurocircle.com/reviews/).
