    Daniel Zimmermann of Cooley Godward will give a brief overview of recent venture capital financings trends in Silicon Valley.     We are glad to announce that Simone Fresinger has been actively supporting GABA as a Programs Associate since June. She is engaged with the organization of GABA events, membership activities and assisting with GABA bookkeeping and invoicing. She's been a great addition to our organization.
    Simone holds a Masters degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and received the US 'Professional in Human Resources' certification (PHR) by the Society for Human Resource Management.
    She is seeking to leverage her background in recruitment, employee development, training, and consulting in a mid-level to entry-level human resources position. Her analytical thinking, assessment skills, and German background should be a great asset to an internationally operating company.

He received an LL.M. degree in Law, Science & Technology from Stanford University in 2004 and a Ph.D. in law from the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn. CPA's have formed a panel to discuss the immigration, legal and tax issues to consider when selecting an entity that will have a foreign investor. The panel will discuss a German investor making a direct investment, owning shares in a U.S. corporation or a foreign corporation, owning a membership interest in a U.S. limited liability company, being a partner in a U.S. partnership, and other investment approaches. The panel discussion will assume a German investor is sought and the U.S. and Germany tax treaty issues will be referenced throughout the discussion.
